Artist's Statement
These images were taken on a beautiful day on Kahola, an extinct volcano on the big island of Hawaii. Driving along a narrow road, I came across these beautiful and playful horses, lounging near a fence by the road. I recall a steady breeze blowing as I approached the horses, the sun bright, a perfect day. The barbed wire fence there to keep these beautiful animals from straying, or to keep people like me from trying to join their carefree world?
