Biography
Pedro Pena is a graduate of Hunter College where he Majored in Art History. His love for photography began 4 ago years when he began experimenting with a Kodak Easy Share. Since then, he has moved on to more sophisticated cameras and it shows in his work. He is self-taught and his inspiration comes from reading about art and other photographers. He is very much influenced by Italian Renaissance Art and the use of Chiaroscuro. His biggest influece is Caspar David Friedrich, the German Romantic Painter. Pedro's Photographs have a unique sense of the Romantic and Mysterious with dramatic shadows and silhouttes. He loves nature, architecture and of course New York City, which he has photographed hundreds of times. This is Mr. Pena's second group showing and he has had his pictures published. He plans to continue taking photographs and hopes one day to be a Fine Arts Photographer.

Artist's Statement
I am fascinated by light and shadow and the dramatic effects that come along with it. Darkness is often seen as something evil but I see it as a shade of romance that enhances the dramatic effect. I love the combination of light and dark and the mystery that it creates.
