I am a retired widower who was married 47 years and raised 5 children. Have been living alone in a senior apartment complex for the past 6 years. 81 years old. Studied Commercial Photography at the New York High School of Industrial Arts for 3 years. Worked in darkrooms of photographers of graduating classes of various schools, catalog illustrators, and photo finishers. Made wedding albums in black and white with a 4x5 Crown Graphic but got married and got out of the field and photographed mostly my own family as a hobby.
Artist's Statement
I enjoy looking at and photographing what looks beautiful to my eyes. Landscapes, scenes of reflections in water, closeups of flowers, patterns of light and shade, interesting color combinations, people busy at doing what they like to do are what I photograph mostly for my own pleasure.The transition from film to digital has been difficult for me but very much worth the effort and helps me to feel connected to the here and now rather than being stuck in the past and makes it easier to share my work.
