Melissa Levow
Biography
A native New Yorker, Melissa Levow has been taking photos since she went on a cross country teen tour. During that trip she photographed the main street of a small Texan town as the other teens skeptically asked, "What's she taking a picture of?" Since then, Melissa has enjoyed taking photos wherever she travels. As a recently joined member of the NYC Photo Club, Melissa hopes to advance her photographic skills to new plateaus.

Artist's Statement
Melissa's photo in the show reflects her love of birds and the humor often portrayed in her work. Visiting Curacao a couple of years ago, Melissa took a jeep tour during which she came upon a flock of colorful birds she'd never seen before. Their beauty was captivating and, much to her amusement, one of the birds visited her picnic table, a moment she was delighted to capture. At home, she searched the internet and learned that this bird is special - it's a Trupial, the National Bird of Venezuela.
