Judith Oppenheimer
Biography
Judith Oppenheimer is a self-taught photographer who was compelled to start shooting by the horrors of Hurricane Katrina. With her family's history of escaping Nazi Germany, the feared “it can happen here” struck an internal chord that literally sought visceral relief. She has been on a visual journey ever since. Her primary focus is candid black and white. Her work has been both licensed and sold. This is her fourth group show.

Artist's Statement
I'm drawn both to chemical connections between people – and the lack thereof, expressions and postures of rejection and isolation. I prefer candid, unscripted reality. My one technical vanity is composition. I also aspire to master light, or at least improve my relationship with it. While not my intent I am nonetheless revealed through my work, but my aim is to move you, to make you FEEL something.
