Photographer: Laird Mark Ehlert![]() Biography Laird was born and raised in central Wisconsin, but has lived in Jersey City for the past 25 years. Laird says that, "While I largely failed to find a self-supporting career in art & design, I have continued to create in my spare time, as so many artists do. I have produced an extensive amount of graphic design projects, mostly for not-for-profit groups, and have been a constant photographer over the years- I almost always have a camera with me. Twenty years ago I started my own greeting card company, Maid In The Shade. Many of the cards incorporate my own photographs." Laird is currently working on a book of informal portraits- strangers who cross his path only once in a lifetime. Education: BS in Elementary Art Education from the University of Wisconsin; BFA in Advertising Design from Syracuse University.
