Charles Marinaro
Biography
BIOGRAPHY OF CHARLES MARINARO Coming of age in the 60’s, I was influenced by the fashion photography of the times, beginning my career as an assistant to William Silano. My fashion photography of the t-shirt revolution led to theatrical portraiture and stage production stills, with clients such as The Hudson Guild Theatre, and Theater for the New City. Published in: The New York Times, The New York Post, The Daily News, Playbill, and too many to count theatrical posters. Exhibitions: The MacIntyre Building Art Expo, The Pittsburgh International Salon of Photographic Art, The Cincinnati Museum of Art. My association with the Bronxchester Boxing Club influenced my theme – “Athletes.”

Artist's Statement
ARTIST’S STATEMENT I find that people’s intimate moments and vulnerabilities fascinate me, as this current theme “Athletes” demonstrates. All of us face hidden challenges and how we find the courage to come through them makes us unique, whether we do so with bombast or humbleness. Growing up in an athletic family influenced my interest in boxing, as the boxing gym was my second home. I would see first hand the fragileness of a human being, the guts to keep going when hurt and the will to survive with dignity. As a runner in my current life, I am also interested in the compassion that shines through in times of stress. Charles Marinaro June 2010
